Home Advocate keeps your data local

Home Advocate keeps the records you store (such as receipts, warranties, manuals, policies, and photos) and the records it drafts from them in a library folder on your Mac. Documents are read and indexed locally. They are never uploaded to Heliome or to any third party, and Home Advocate works without an internet connection.

There is no account, no sync service, and no server-side copy of your library. If you back the folder up — with Time Machine or a service of your choosing — that copy is governed by that service, not by us.

We don’t sell your information

We don’t sell personal data or share it beyond what’s needed to run our website and mailing list. We don’t run advertising, use cookies, or track you across websites. We don’t train models on your documents without your explicit permission. We can’t read your library, so we can’t be compelled to hand it over.

Home Advocate runs on your local machine, not the cloud, and by default sends no information to us. Crash reports and basic diagnostics are sent only if you turn them on, and they never include the contents of your documents.

You can take your data with you

You can export your entire library from the app at any time, in ordinary formats. You can delete it by deleting the folder. You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it, at support@heliome.net.

This website

• Cookies aren’t used on this site.
• Vercel hosts this site. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and browser when you visit. Request logs are kept for a day, and include only standard information your browser sends with every web request.
• Vercel Web Analytics counts visits to this site. It uses no cookies, can’t identify you or follow you to other websites, and shows us only totals.
• Resend stores the mailing list and sends our emails.

Both Vercel and Resend are US companies, so our web logs and mailing list may be processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

Changes to this policy are never retroactive: anything we collected under an earlier version is still handled as that version promised. When a change matters, we’ll say so plainly. We will date any changes to this policy and try to keep it at this page, or link to it if we need to move it.
